Dubai continues to attract millions of visitors every year with its blend of modernity, luxury, and cultural experiences. In the first half of 2024 alone, the city welcomed 9.31 million tourists, marking a 9% increase from the previous year.
Most visitors arrive on a short-term UAE tourist visa, which allows stays ranging from 30 to 90 days. While these visas cover most travel plans, many travelers find it necessary to extend their stay to attend business meetings, explore more of the city, or handle unexpected personal matters. In such cases, the GDFRA (General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs) permits extensions for single or multiple trips, ensuring that the total stay does not exceed 120 days.
The UAE government has simplified the UAE tourist visa extension process, allowing visitors to apply for extensions without leaving the country for some nationalities. However, staying compliant with the rules is legally important. Overstaying can lead to fines, visa cancellations, or future travel restrictions.
