What is a UAE Trade License and its Types?
A UAE trade license is an official permit issued by a government authority that allows your business to carry out specific commercial activities legally. On the mainland, the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), formerly DED, and the equivalent economic departments in other emirates issue trade licenses. In Free Zone, each FZ authority issues its own licenses. For example, authorities such as the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) issue licenses for companies operating within their jurisdiction.
Every trade license is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. The trade license specifies your company name, legal structure, approved business activities, and the jurisdiction in which you operate. Without a valid license, your business has no legal standing in the UAE.
